VISION
To become the center of developing the field of Visual Communication Design with the view of humanistic values so that is able to produce the creative, innovative and entrepreneurship human resources with Global Quality which has the ability to compete globally.

MISSION
• To run the program on education, research and social service which undergoes the development and application of the knowledge and technology in the field of Visual Communication Design.
• To create the conducive circumstance for carrying out the academic activities in producing the morally good human beings who have the high creative power that can compete globally
• To trace and develop the local values as the elements that cannot be separated from the development of creative works of Visual Communication Design with Indonesian characteristics.
• To make a joint venture with all parties, at home and abroad in order that the learning process and results always up to date.

DEPARTMENT OF VISUAL COMMUNICATION DESIGN AT A GLANCE
One factor that differentiates Department of Visual Communication Design of Indonesia Institute of the Arts from others is the historical and circumstance factor. Historically, Department of Visual Communication Design Indonesia Institute of the Arts was born from the womb of the oldest Indonesian Arts Education, namely ASRI (Academy of Visual Arts) in Yogyakarta, and was midwife by the artists such as DR. HC. RM. Saptohoedojo and Rj. Katamsi, the founding father of ASRI. Influenced by the internal campus, the department fine arts has produced many well known artists who have a great influence on the academic atmosphere in the Department of Visual Communication Design at Indonesia Institute of the Arts in Yogyakarta. In addition, the city of Yogyakarta, well known as the city of culture that is full of the artistic events give the contribution to the academic atmosphere in Department of Visual Communication Design at Indonesia Institute of the Arts in Yogyakarta influence the outstanding artistic circumstance nerve, taste both the behavior, attitude and profession.

AIMS
The students are able to find new idea and think paradigmatically in their creative process in producing their Visual Communication Design works.They are able to make the strategic plan in Visual Communication Design through various media to promote and communicate to plan a thorough campaign.
